H.R.Giger Tribute - Skullified: Giger

A bit late to the party - I was very busy the past weeks, so I wasn´t able to create something as a tribute to Giger´s passing away just in time, may he rest in peace. The other day I figured that he´ll be away for a longer time - so it might not be too late to create a tribute artwork.

He was a big inspiration to me in my humble beginnings and its still visible sometimes in my work - honestly it was the hardest to get rid of Giger´s influence.

So my Skull:z & Idols series got a bit neglected over the past months and I felt there is a need for a change. I will probably focus more on artists and their respective styles (as with the Kaiju series), so this stylistic approach still fits the bill but is more elaborate than the previous Skull:z, let´s see where this goes

Skull:z: & Idols is an Iconography-series of popular personalities, this concept explores the relationship between success and superficialities.

With subjects as diverse as Batman, Andy Warhol and Che Guevara, and a visual conception that spots both, implicit and explicit similarities, the most fascinating phenomenon about this exhibition becomes the fact that even leader with a life devoted to others, are merely recognized by their humble appearances.

What started out in a spark of hope about understanding psychology, became an inevitable obsession which led further down to a core, until a point where we can´t be separated by the colour of our skin.

Right now the list has about 147 names that will be skullified as part of this long term project, any recommendations of names from celebrities to comic heroes is appreciated.
