10 Ways You Can Transform Drawbacks Into Assets

Everyone has Drawbacks or disadvantages due to different circumstances in our lives, but it´s on us to change our view about them, or better said: turning them into assets.
The image shows an explanatory example of this topic, it is told that Lady Gaga was a roadie for Iron Maiden, once upon a time. Things that would make everyone else look like a complete dork somehow complimenting her appearance.

Tip of the DayA pleasing personality is more important then you think.
Put in the effort to be in a good mood and people will be more likely to enjoy your company and want to work with you more often.
If I had to choose between hiring a person with a skill level of 10/10 but didn't have a pleasing personality or a person with a skill level of 7/10 but is pleasant to work with, personally I would always choose the pleasant person that is a 7/10 because I know I can train them to become a 10/10.

Art ResourcesHere are some pretty helpful sites I've found:
Lots of pose reference if you just can't get that arm to bend properly or if you're not sure how the foot should fall. If you're new to drawing, I'd advise against using photo references though, since they tend to make your drawing look flat, and confuse you with details that your drawing just doesn't need (that's what my instructor told me, and it makes sense).

MyPaint is the best free painting app around. The brushes look great and it's got layer support to boot. It's very light on the system as well. I'm running it on Linux and it seems to be pretty stable. There are downloads for windows and mac too.

Just F**king Do It!When I was putting together my most recent art book 'Dead Apes in the Snow', which is pretty much a retrospective and features a lot of my work that's up here on DA - http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/218125 - I wanted to write something for aspiring artists that was honest, to the point, and not anodyne. But the harder I tried the less true it seemed. The reality is that there is no secret way in, you just - well - you just have to fucking do it! This was the text that made it into the book. I know it sounds simple, and nothing is that easy (as the text says, it's a long, harsh and difficult road!) but there really is no easy answer, no fast-track into the trade. It's hard work, a bit of talent and a lot of luck. Everything else anybody will tell you is just advice. This is the only true answer.
JUST FUCKING DO IT.
Nobody gives you a hand up.
There are no easy answers, and there is no back stage pass.
